The arrival
The C. Bechstein upright arrives in our showroom: the black case is worn and the instrument needs a complete restoration.
Dismantling
Action, keyboard, strings and frame come out of the piano, which is laid down to work on it more easily.
The soundboard
The soundboard is cleaned and the bridges restored, with the patience the heart of the sound requires.
The cast-iron frame
The cast-iron frame is refinished in gold and mounted back on the soundboard.
The action
The action is fully dismantled and overhauled, part by part.
Tuning pins and strings
New tuning pins and strings: the stringing is done by hand, one string at a time.
Hammers and regulation
Hammers and action go back in place; the keyboard is regulated key by key.
Finished
The matt black case refinished and the instrument reassembled and tuned: the C. Bechstein is ready in our showroom.
