Pianos need periodic tuning to preserve the quality of the instrument and its sound: the strings exert tens of tonnes of tension on the cast-iron frame, pins and soundboard, and over time vibration and humidity shift that balance. We recommend tuning every 12–15 months.

We offer an at-home service, bookable by phone, email or contact form, for private clients, schools, institutes and theatres throughout the region. During each visit, our technicians also carry out a general check of the mechanics: minor adjustments (sluggish action, slow keys, broken pins) are included at no extra cost. On request, intonation work can also be carried out after tuning.

Tuning fixes the pitch of the notes, but on its own it isn’t enough to keep a piano running smoothly: hammers, felts, keys and pedals wear and settle with use, regardless of whether the strings are correctly in tune. Regulation is the complete check of the instrument’s mechanical side — the part that tuning alone doesn’t cover.

During a regulation visit we check the adjustment of the action (key dip, hammer alignment, the response of the “double escapement” that allows the same note to be repeated quickly), the condition of felts and dampers, pedal function and, for grand pianos, keyboard alignment. Minor adjustments are corrected at this stage, often before they become an obvious problem for the player.

How often it’s needed depends on use: for a piano played regularly, we recommend a regulation every 2-3 years, in addition to periodic tuning; for a newly purchased instrument, new or after a move, an initial check within the first few months helps the piano settle into its new conditions. We carry out regulation at home, alongside the tuning service, for private clients, schools, institutes and theatres throughout the region.

Our expertise dates back to the late 1950s, at the historic Schulze Pollmann piano factory in Bolzano, where Mr Saccuman learned every stage of the craft — from cabinet-making to the mechanics at the heart of the piano. After more than 15 years in the factory, he and Mr Favretto founded a business built around a clear purpose: not to build pianos from scratch, but to bring antique instruments back to life — sourced from Germany, France and England and brought to our Via Alessandria workshop.

Today, in its third generation, we continue restoring pianos using the same hands-on craftsmanship.

The restoration process. Each piano is completely disassembled. Every component is checked to decide whether it can be reused, needs overhauling, or must be replaced with original parts — adapted or hand-built when no longer available. The cabinet, soundboard and bridges are inspected and restored; the cast-iron frame is repainted and reinstalled; felts, strings and pins are replaced, including custom copper-wound strings hand-made by our craftsmen to match the originals’ exact dimensions. Total string tension exceeds 16 tonnes, which is why a thorough structural check beforehand is essential.

The keyboard and action are overhauled component by component — felts, leathers, springs, pins — until every movement responds like new. The cabinet can be refinished in its original colour or one of the client’s choosing, glossy or satin. Restoration concludes with final intonation and tuning, the stage that brings the whole work into balance.

We transport upright and grand pianos throughout the region, with the same care we give our own instruments. Every transport is handled by a piano technician, not a generic courier — allowing us to check the instrument’s condition during the move and give you useful feedback on its state.

For those approaching the piano for the first time, or who aren’t ready to commit to a purchase, we offer a rental service for new instruments from the best brands — from major Japanese manufacturers to European classics.

If you decide to buy, a full year’s rental is deducted from the final price, even if you choose a different instrument from the one you rented. All pianos carry a five-year warranty on structural parts from the date of purchase, regardless of how long they were rented. Monthly fees are affordable, with a minimum 12-month commitment (the length of a school year). Available for rental: upright acoustic pianos, pianos with the Silent system, and digital pianos — the latter on a 6-month plan.

Piano wood expands and contracts in response to changes in relative humidity, directly affecting tuning stability, the soundboard, pins and mechanics. The Dampp Chaser Piano Life Saver System keeps humidity levels around the instrument constant, 24 hours a day.

The system consists of three parts: a Humidistat control unit with a humidity sensor positioned just a few centimetres from the soundboard, a humidifier, and one or more dehumidifiers (depending on the piano’s size). The sensor automatically triggers the right device to maintain the ideal balance, silently and invisibly — installed inside an upright piano or beneath a grand.

Compared to a portable dehumidifier/humidifier, the system requires minimal maintenance (a water tank to refill roughly twice a month) and uses up to 11 times less electricity. It is available in 4 models, sized for upright pianos and for grand pianos across three length ranges.

Every pianist has the right to play their acoustic piano without worrying about the neighbours. We install the adsilent mute system, which uses the instrument’s original mechanics: a mute rail intercepts the hammers before they reach the strings, eliminating acoustic sound without altering the instrument’s response under the fingers in any way.

Touch is detected via 88 fully touchless key sensors, plus 3 pedal sensors, which precisely capture the force and speed of every performance. Sound is played back through headphones with samples recorded by European specialists, with over 9 sampling layers and 128 dynamic levels, for a faithful rendering of every nuance.

The system connects via USB-C MIDI, wireless Bluetooth MIDI and audio in/out, to record your playing, connect headphones or external devices, or compose digitally with a PC or mobile app.

We install adsilent on most upright and grand pianos, new or antique. You can try it directly in our showroom.

Our workshop in Bolzano is equipped to repair digital pianos from all major brands — Yamaha, Kawai, Korg, Casio, Gem and others. As an authorised repair centre, we have access to original spare parts.
